Survey claims smokers and vegetarians have lower risk of corona infection

According to a survey conducted in the country, smokers and vegetarians have a lower risk of coronary heart disease.
The survey was conducted by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the country's top research institute. CSIRA has released the results after conducting this survey across the country. The survey also found that people with blood type O had a lower risk of corona, while people with blood groups B and AB had a higher risk of corona infection.

CSII sampled 10,427 people

CSII has sampled 10,427 people for this nationwide survey. These people work in CSIR's 40 laboratories present in different parts of the country. Or their family members. The survey gave people the freedom to decide whether or not to participate. The purpose of the survey was to detect the presence of antibodies against corona. The survey was initiated by CSIR's Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB) Delhi. Of the 10,427 people, 1,058 or about 10.14 percent had antibodies against corona.

The survey also revealed some other important information

Shantanu Sengupta, senior scientist at IGIB, said that after three months of follow-up, it was found that the antibodies against the corona were stable in 346 people, but the activity of the plasma that removed the corona was declining. When re-sampled six months later, it was found that antibody levels were declining in 35 people. But the activation of plasma activity is more.

The corona first damages the lungs

"Our research has shown that people who smoke have a lower risk of coronary heart disease," Shantanu said. While this is very surprising, as the corona first damages the lungs. Here the fact that smoking protects the lungs from the corona is the subject of intense study. It is not just in India. Previous studies in New York, Italy, France and China have found that people who smoke have a lower risk of coronary heart disease.

Low risk in people who use a private vehicle

IGBI Director Anurag Agarwal said the survey found the presence of such antibodies in the body helps in bridging the gap between infection and recovery. However, some infected people may not have antibodies in their body. He further said that people who use private vehicles, smoke is vegetarian. Whose bloodgroup is 'A' or 'O'. They have lower corona seropositivity, which means they have a lower risk of infection.
