These simple habits can harm your gut health, know how

Some habits may knowingly or unknowingly cause trouble in your gut and affect your health. If any of them apply to you, make changes immediately to lead a healthy and fit life.

The intestine is one of the important parts of the human body. It works by absorbing many nutrients through the body which is essential for good health. Its main functions are from generating energy to mental health and hormonal imbalance. The gut is home to good bacteria that promote digestion and are responsible for strong immunity.

However, despite being important for good health, gut health problems are on the rise. The reason for this is a rapidly changing lifestyle, which includes poor eating and drinking habits as well as lack of sleep. Your normal habits can affect the normal functioning of your gut.

Lack of sleep- Irregular sleep cycle leads to many problems like fatigue, irritability as well as acidity. Not maintaining a healthy sleep cycle increases stress which is harmful to your gut.

Dehydration- Water is important for your overall health. Drinking water at regular intervals helps in digestion, improves skin as well as regulates bowel movements.

Lack of exercise- Exercise is very important for a fit and healthy body. Exercising regularly is not only good for losing weight but also improves heart health and blood circulation in the body. Any form of physical activity like playing a sport, yoga causes movement in the body, which is also good for your gut.

Low fiber intake- A low fiber diet causes health problems related to the intestine such as diarrhea and constipation. Fiber is important for good digestion as well as keeping blood sugar levels stable. Vegetables, fruits and whole grains are rich sources of fiber and should be an essential part of your regular diet.

Excessive consumption of alcohol- Regular consumption of too much alcohol leads to imbalance in the gut bacteria. This condition is known as Dysbiosis. Drinking infrequently or in moderation does not harm your gut health and healthy bacteria.
