New Delhi: In January, veteran wrestling players of India made serious allegations against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexually abusing women players. Because of this, these players had also staged a sit-in at Jantar Mantar. After this, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and then the Sports Ministry formed an inquiry committee, in which players like Olympic medalist Mary Kom and Yogeshwar Dutt are named. After the matter remained calm for a few days, Vinesh Phogat, one of the protesting players, has now exploded another bombshell.
Vinesh has alleged that the sportsperson involved in the Oversight Committee is leaking information regarding the matter. He has said this about some media reports coming in front of him. Vinesh has expressed disappointment that even after being a player, that person is doing this. Vinesh, however, has not taken the name of that person. Vinesh has put a post in this regard on Twitter.

Vinesh's tweet reads, “Recently after reading yesterday's media reports, it has come to my knowledge that the members of the Oversight Committee, who are themselves sportspersons, are leaking information in the sexual harassment case. As a player, it is bad enough to see that your fellow players who are part of the oversight committee are behaving so badly. This clearly shows his attitude against women.
The Sports Ministry has given place to London Olympic-2012 medalist Mary Kom, Yogeshwar Dutt, former badminton player Trupti Murgunde, former SAI administrators Radhika Sriman and Rajesh Rajagopalan in this oversight committee. Yogeshwar is also a part of the committee that has been constituted by the IOA.
There will be a decrease in trust
Vinesh, however, has clearly written that these members are part of both the committees formed by the IOA and the Sports Ministry. Vinesh wrote, “It is more noteworthy that this sportsperson is a part of both the committees probing the allegations of sexual harassment leveled against the WFI official. This will reduce the trust in the work of the committee. I am not only feeling weak at this time but also feel that there is a conspiracy by this player to influence a transparent investigation. I appeal that in this case strict action should be taken against the person who is misusing his position and he should be immediately thrown out of the committee.
