PM Modi has unveiled the National Memorial dedicated to Netaji to be built on Subhash Chandra Bose Island. With this, from today onwards 21 islands of Andaman and Nicobar will be known as Paramveers of India.

Twenty one large uncharted islands of Andaman and Nicobar were named after Param Vir Chakra winners in a function organized on the occasion of Parakram Divas. PM Modi also unveiled the model of the National Memorial dedicated to Netaji to be built on Subhash Chandra Bose Island. The PM said that these 21 islands will now be known as Param Vir Chakra winners. The coming generations will remember this day as an important chapter of the nectar of freedom. He said that these islands will become a place of eternal inspiration for our future generations. I congratulate everyone for this.

It is unfortunate that many efforts were made to forget Subhash Chandra Bose, but those who are brave are not dependent on anyone for their memory. We did the work of installing a statue of Subhash Babu on the duty path, celebrated his birth anniversary as 'Parakram Diwas'. Cellular Jail is not just a jail, it is a great place of pilgrimage for the freedom struggle. This part of the country first got the honor of getting independence and got this honor by unfurling the tricolor by the leader himself.

Netaji first hoisted the tricolor in Andaman

PM Modi said that at the place where the leader first hoisted the tricolor in Andaman, today the skyscraper is praising the might of the Azadi Hind Army. Seeing the tricolor waving on the seashore, the thrill of patriotism increases among the people coming here. This land of Andaman is that land, in whose sky the free tricolor was hoisted for the first time. He had said that even today voices of that unprecedented passion are heard from the cells of the Cellular Jail along with immense pain.
