Agni 3 Missile: Successful launch of Agni-3 missile, can target a target 3500 km away

Training Launch of Agni-3 Missile:  India on Wednesday successfully launched ballistic missile Agni-3 from APJ Abdul Kalam Island near Odisha coast. Agni-3 is an intermediate range ballistic missile. According to an official statement, the test was part of a routine training launch conducted under the aegis of 'Strategic Force Command' (SFC). According to the statement, the launch was done for a predetermined range. The test of the missile was completely successful and it met various parameters.

Agni-III is the third entrant in the Agni missile series and was first tested on July 9, 2006 but developed a technical snag and splashed down in the sea off the Odisha coast without hitting the target. The missile is capable of carrying nuclear warheads and hitting targets 3,500 km away.

The Agni-III missile was successfully tested in its second flight in 2007 and again in its third consecutive launch in 2008. The last test of the missile was done from this base on December 18 last year, which was also successful.

India can now hit targets between 30 and 5,000 km

Agni series of missiles now includes Agni-1 (700 km), Agni-2 (2,000 km), Agni-3 (3,000 km), Agni-4 (4,000 km) And Agni Shamil-5 with the longest strike range of 5,000 km is included. With Agni and the tactical cruise missile BrahMos, India can easily engage targets between 30 and 5,000 kms. BrahMos can engage targets in the range of 30 to 300 km, while Agni can take care of the distance beyond that.
