The World Health Organization (WHO) report says that 9 out of every 10 people are breathing contaminated air. Worldwide, 38 lakh deaths are happening due to pollution in homes alone. The WHO report says that every year 7 million people die of premature death due to air pollution worldwide. Up to 91 percent of these deaths are occurring in countries whose economic condition is not very good. Most of these countries include the countries of South-East Asia. The report says, PM 2.5 particles present in the polluted air reach the body through respiration. They cause damage by reaching the lungs, heart and brain.

According to the report, 5 lakh 70 thousand children are dying every year worldwide due to air pollution. These are children whose age has been less than 5 years. Worldwide, about one million children die of pneumonia every year, of which about 50 percent of deaths are related to air pollution.

WHO says, air pollution is affecting children in many ways, which is causing many problems for them in future. These include not developing the brain properly, improper functioning of the lungs, cancer, respiratory problems, brain stroke and heart disease. The risk of these diseases in children is also increasing due to the increase in polluted air.

The report says, there are 300 crore people around the world who do not have such fuel that will save them from the danger of pollution. There are many factors such as cooking by burning wood and sticks, burning stoves, using kerosene, which are increasing the level of pollution in homes. 2400 million people of the world are struggling with indoor pollution.
