Wayanad, Aug 16 (UNI) Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi began his two-day visit to his constituency on Monday.
The Congress MP unveiled a statue of the Mahatma Gandhi in the Gandhi Park in Mananthavady. He inaugurated the dental unit at the Family Health Centre in Noopuzha, set up utilizing MPs local development fund.
He also inaugurated two drinking water projects, one in the Koovalathod colony in Padinjarethara near Kalpetta and the other in the Kattunatika colony in Poonkuzhi. Both were commissioned using the MPs fund.
The absence of prominent leaders was visible in the reception accorded to him at Karipur airport and in functions, he attended in Wayanad.
The Opposition leader V D Satheessn and Kozhikode MP M K Raghavan accompanied Gandhi.
The Congress leader was given a warm reception at Calicut International Airport where he landed in the morning.
The Congress leader will camp in Kalpetta and attend few official functions tomorrow before returning to Delhi.
