SBI is giving free insurance up to Rs 2 lakh to these account holders, take advantage of the scheme like this


Special facility is being given by the bank to all Jan Dhan account holders using State Bank of India (SBI) RuPay Debit Card. 
Now they will be able to get the benefit of free accidental insurance cover up to Rs 2 lakh from the bank. The benefit of this scheme will be given to those people who have Jan Dhan account.

The amount of insurance given by SBI to the customers will depend on the period of opening their Jan Dhan account. Therefore, customers whose PMJDY account has been opened till August 28, 2018 will get the sum insured of up to Rs 1 lakh on the RuPay PMJDY card issued to them. Whereas on RuPay cards issued after August 28, 2018, accidental cover benefit of up to Rs 2 lakh will be available.

Scheme for Economically Weaker Section

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana was launched with the objective of ensuring access to financial services, banking savings and deposit accounts, remittance, credit, insurance, pension to the economically weaker sections in an affordable manner. In this, any person can open a Jan Dhan account online or by visiting a bank by providing (KYC) documents. If you want, you can also convert your savings account into Jan Dhan. In this, Rupay card is given by the bank. This debit card can be used by the user for various benefits including accidental death insurance, purchase protection cover and more.

Eligibility to take advantage of the scheme

Jan Dhan account holders can get the benefit of accident insurance under RuPay Debit Card only if the user has done any successful financial or non-financial transaction on any channel, both intra or inter bank within 90 days from the date of accident . On fulfillment of this condition, the claim of sum assured will be paid on submission of necessary documents.

These documents will be needed

1.Insurance Claim Form

2. Original or attested copy of death certificate

3. Original or attested copy of FIR or Police Report giving details of the accident

4. Original or attested copy of post mortem report along with chemical analysis or FSL report if death is due to other cause

5.Aadhaar copy of the cardholder and the nominee

6. Declaration on behalf of the card issuing bank duly signed by the authorized signatory and bank stamp. In this the contact details along with the name and email id of the bank officer should be given.
