Chaitra Navratri 2021: Why Kanya Pujan is done in Navratri, know its method and importance

Navratri has special significance in Hinduism.
These days, the festival of Chaitra Navratri is going on. On Navratri, the worship of the girl starts on the seventh day. During this time, the girls are called and they are welcomed. On the day of Durgashtami and Navami, these girls are worshiped as goddesses and are worshiped. This time Durgashtami is on 20 April 2021. It is believed that these girls are welcomed as the appearance of nine Goddesses. Goddess Durga is pleased with this and gives the blessings of wealth and fame to the devotees.

Why is Kanya worshiped in Navratri

Worshiping the girl during the time of Navaratri has special significance. The nine girls are worshiped as reflections of the nine goddesses. People open fast after consuming prasad on Navami and Dashmi Tithi after worshiping the girl. It has been said in the scriptures that the best day for worshiping the girl is Durgashtami. This day is considered very auspicious for the worship of girls. After worshiping the girl, mother Durga is pleased by giving charity Dakshina according to her strength.

What is the age of the girl in worshiping the girl

The age of girls sitting in Kanya Poojan should be between 2 to 9 years. You can feed nine or more girls. There should also be a child with it. Because the way the worship of Mother Durga is not complete without Bhairava, similarly it is necessary to have a child in the worship of the girl. Which is considered as Bhairav.

How do girls worship

Girls are invited for Kanya Puja one day in advance.
The next day, when the girls arrive, they should wash their feet with their hands in a milk-filled platter and touch their feet and take blessings.
After this, vaccination of Akshat, Phool, Kunkum should be done.
Then girls should be given clean posture to sit. After this Goddess Durga should be meditated and provide food to the girls.
After the meal, according to their strength, girls should be given Dakshina and gifts. Then, blessings should be taken while going.
