Why was Shanidev cursed by his own wife?

According to Brahma Purana, Shani Dev was a devotee of Lord Krishna since childhood and was always immersed in his devotion. Shani Dev was married to a woman named Chitrarath. Chitrarath was a very simple, easy-going, knowledgeable, talented and devoted woman. Once Chitrarath went to Shani Dev to wish for a son. Even at that time, Shani Dev was engaged in the meditation of Lord Krishna. During that time, he did not look at his wife Chitrarath so as not to break his meditation posture.

His wife Chitrarath found this behaviour insulting. Due to this insult, she cursed Shanidev and said that from today onwards whoever he looks at will be destroyed immediately. Hearing this curse from his wife, Shanidev's concentration was disturbed and he also repented for his mistake, but Chitrarath had no solution for that curse. This is the reason why Shanidev always walks with his head bent and crooked eyes, so that his gaze does not fall on anyone and no one gets harmed.
