World Hypertension day: Every fourth person has high BP problem, this is the biggest reason for heart diseases.

World Hypertension day 2023: Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh, Regional Director of South-East Asia Region in WHO, says that it is very important to be aware of its symptoms to prevent hypertension.

Hypertension: World Hypertension day will be celebrated worldwide on 17 May . Its purpose is to make people aware of the disease of hypertension i.e. high blood pressure. High blood pressure is the biggest cause of death due to heart disease. In such a situation, it is necessary for people to know about the symptoms, causes and methods of prevention of this disease. It is a matter of concern that the symptoms of hypertension are not easily detected. Because of this, the patient gets information about it late. In many cases, heart attack also occurs due to high BP.

Every year the cases of this disease are increasing all over the world including India. In such a situation, the World Health Organization (WHO) has appealed people to be aware of the disease of hypertension. According to WHO statistics, a quarter of the adult population in South-East Asia region is suffering from the problem of high BP. Only one out of three patients is being treated, while only one out of ten people has BP under control.

Regional Director of South-East Asia Region in WHO, Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh says that people should be aware of the symptoms to prevent this disease. Along with this, it is very important to check the blood pressure of your body every day.

These are the risk factors of high BP

According to Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh, in the last five years, more than 10 million people with high BP have been informed about the risk factors associated with hypertension. High intake of salt, high fat diet, low intake of fruits and vegetables, lack of exercise, consumption of tobacco and alcohol are risk factors associated with hypertension. By controlling all these, the disease can be easily prevented.

According to Dr. Khetrapal, by keeping high BP under control, heart disease can also be prevented to a great extent. For this it is necessary to take care of food. Reduce the amount of salt in the food. Do not consume tobacco and alcohol and do exercise. By taking care of these things, the deaths due to high BP can be controlled.
