The Union Defense Ministry is planning to further increase the participation of women in the 2024 Republic Day parade . In fact, the aim of the ministry is to create avenues of new opportunities for women in the defense forces of the country. So that the country moves forward on the path of women empowerment. This means that there will be maximum representation of women in the parade.

In fact, in a circular released last month, it was told that on the occasion of Republic Day in 2024, there will be only women participants on the Kartavya Path. In this circular, all ministries, departments, organizations and agencies have also been instructed to start preparations for this.

'Women power' in 2023 parade

The theme of 'women power' was in the center in the last parade . It was considered a milestone in recent years. With the theme of the parade being 'Nari Shakti', the tableau of the Navy featured an all-women aircrew of a Dornier aircraft, highlighting the all-women crew. An armed police battalion of women Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officers was also in attendance.

Shivangi Singh in 2022

The country's first woman Rafale fighter jet pilot Shivangi Singh was part of the tableau of the Indian Air Force in the Republic Day parade in 2022. She was only the second woman fighter jet pilot to be a part of the tableau of the Indian Air Force.

All the women bikers of the Border Security Force participated in the parade in the year 2018. A 27-member women daredevils of BSF performed stunts on their 350 cc Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles. And before that, for the first time in 2016, the women's stunt team of CRPF had performed in this program.

For the first time in the history of the country, all women contingents of the three services – Army, Air Force and Navy marched between India Gate and Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. During this, the team of that army was led by Captain Divya Ajit. The Navy was led by Lieutenant Commander Sandhya Chauhan while the Air Force contingent was led by Squadron Leader Sneha Shekhawat.
