SC expresses displeasure over sexual harassment of women, orders to implement POSH


NALSA and other State Legal Services Committee have been directed to develop modules on POSH Act 2013 for conducting sensitization programs in universities, schools and other organizations etc.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has expressed displeasure over the sexual harassment of women at the workplace . The court said that even after a decade of implementation of the (POSH) Act 2013, its provisions are being implemented poorly. Which is totally wrong. The Supreme Court has directed to strictly implement this provision. Explain that the Supreme Court has directed the Central Government to ensure that the provisions of the POSH Act 2013 are strictly implemented in privately controlled organizations like public undertakings and other bodies.

Same as above should be implemented by other state authorities/bodies including state level, universities, commissions and other organizations etc. It has also been directed that the members/employees/employers of all bodies/institutions/organizations should be made aware of the provisions of the POSH Act 2013. The concerned officers/employers of any organization should organize awareness sessions for their members regarding the importance of the POSH Act 2013.

2013 ordered to develop the module

NALSA and other State Legal Services Committee have been directed to develop modules on POSH Act 2013 for conducting sensitization programs in universities, schools and other organizations etc. The National Judicial Academy and other State Judicial Academies are directed to include the POSH Act 2013 in their schedule.

In relation to the importance of the mandatory constitution of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) in the courts, a sensitization program can be organized for the judicial officers and its importance can be told. These instructions have been issued by a bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Bela M Trivedi.
