Rawalpindi attack: Preparation to prosecute the accused under Army Act, 225 arrests so far

The accused who attacked the army headquarters in Rawalpindi during violent demonstrations in Pakistan can be handed over to the army. Along with this, all the cases registered in this regard will also be handed over to the army.

Violent protests after the arrest of Imran Khan and the attack on the Army Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi are gaining momentum. In this case, the sword of arrest is also hanging on Imran Khan. According to sources, in the first phase, it has been decided to prosecute the GHQ attack case under the Army Act, while the accused arrested in the case will also be handed over to the army.

Police sources say that 18 cases have been registered regarding violent incidents in Rawalpindi, in which 225 accused have been arrested. No new case will be registered for investigation of cases under the Army Act. The provisions of the Army Act will be added to the case number 708/23 registered in Thana RA Bazar. Former law minister Raja Basharat is also a named accused in the case.

A case of GHQ attack has been registered on Tahrir of police sub-inspector Malik Muhammad Riaz. The case involves 10 provisions, including the anti-terror section 7ATA, which names former law minister Raja Basharat and PTI activist Khalid Jadoon.

Police arrested 6 accused on the spot. All legal requirements have been met. Who have been arrested so far. The matter will also be handed over to the army. Hearing is going on in other 17 cases under the Army Act. Violent protests started in Pakistan when Imran Khan was arrested from the court gate in Islamabad in the Al Qadir Trust case.

After the arrest of Imran, the supporters came out on the road and whoever came in front of them were set on fire. Apart from Rawalpindi, the court commander's house in Islamabad was vandalized and set on fire. All the things kept in the house were looted.

However, two days later, while hearing the case, the Supreme Court issued an order to release the former PM, terming Imran Khan's arrest as illegal. Many more PTI leaders were also arrested in this case. Shah Mehmood Qureshi is also included in this. On Thursday, the High Court has ordered to release them too.
