PM Modi Papua New Guinea Visit: PM Modi reached Papua New Guinea, Prime Minister James Marape welcomed him by touching his feet

PM Modi In Papua New Guinea: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Papua New Guinea to attend the FIPIC summit. Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape welcomed PM Modi by touching his feet.

PM Modi Papua New Guinea Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Papua New Guinea on Sunday (May 21) for the second leg of his three-nation tour. PM Modi has reached Papua New Guinea to attend the FIPIC summit. Where he was received by the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, James Marape. During this, the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea touched the feet of  the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi .

PM Modi was accorded a traditional warm welcome at Moresby (Jackson) International Airport in Papua New Guinea. During this, a large number of NRIs were present there. The PM was also given a guard of honour. The PM will host the third Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) summit on May 22 with his counterpart James Marape in Papua New Guinea. 

PM reached Papua New Guinea from Japan

In the second leg of his three-nation tour, Modi has reached Papua New Guinea. This is the first visit of any Indian Prime Minister to Papua New Guinea. The Prime Minister arrived here from Japan where he attended the G-7 summit and held bilateral meetings with several world leaders. FIPIC was formed in 2014 during Prime Minister Modi's visit to Fiji.

Leaders of 14 countries will participate

Leaders of 14 countries will participate in the FIPIC summit. Generally all these are rarely found together due to connectivity and other issues. The PICs include Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with Marape and will also meet Governor General of Papua New Guinea, Bob Dade.
