G7 Summit: What is the significance of PM Modi's visit to Hiroshima for the G-7 summit?

G7 Summit: In the context of India, the G-7 summit is special because it is presiding over the G-20 this year. Secondly because this summit is being held in Hiroshima, Japan and India is among those countries which have not signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Japan from May 19 to May 21, 2023, to participate in the G-7 summit . India is not a member of G-7 group but Japan is presiding it this time. And on the special invitation of Japanese PM Fumio Kishida, PM Modi is reaching Japan. The G-7 summit is special in the context of India because it is presiding over the G-20 this year. Secondly because this summit is being held in Hiroshima, Japan and India is among those countries which have not signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

It is not hidden from anyone that Hiroshima was completely destroyed in the year 1945 nuclear attack. In such a situation, when nuclear weapons dominate the world, some countries are seen threatening nuclear war, while some are determined to use this power for the betterment of humanity, the Russia-Ukraine war is not taking the name of stopping. If 7 countries are standing in the help of Ukraine, then this summit organized in Hiroshima becomes very important.

Why is G-7 summit important for India?

This is very important for India because the G-20 summit is scheduled for September 9-10, 2023 in New Delhi. India has decided the theme of this summit – Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam or One Earth, One Family, One Future. It is believed that India will be around this theme in the G-7 summit. It will be a matter of humanity. It will be a matter of saving the earth. It will be a matter of clean water. There will be talk of environment, living beings. Life will be a matter of values. Because India is not only working keeping these subjects at the center but also trying to bring them into life.

India's increasing acceptance on global forums takes it to a different stage. Due to the fast emerging economy of the world, India is at the center of expectations.

Among the subjects on which PM Modi can present his views in front of the world, despite being a nuclear power country, there is a possibility of keeping distance from subjects like peace, harmony and war in the whole world.

India's agenda

The PM can also present his side on the Russia-Ukraine war because most of the member countries present in the G-7 summit are not only supporting Ukraine, but are also supplying ammunition and weapons. The basic concept of India is that it will not attack any country, yes, if there is an attack, it will not hold back from giving a befitting reply. Even so, India has appealed many times to both Russia and Ukraine to stop the war. India believes that war leads us to destruction, which is dangerous for the world.

With the help of the PM G-20 theme, he can also talk about the efforts being made towards zero carbon emissions because India is working fast in this direction. Whether it is talk of 100% electrification of railways or steps towards renewable energy, the PM has been vocally speaking on this issue at international forums.

The PM can also speak on global health because the way India helped its country as well as the world by providing free vaccines during the Kovid 19 pandemic, was appreciated. With the help of this, they can also underline the efforts being made in the direction of a healthy India. Despite many adverse circumstances, India is continuously moving forward in the world. His work in economic reform is opening the way for progress. Though slow in development, the process has not stopped. Agencies around the world are appreciating India, there has not been much decline in ratings.

PM Modi can also place India's contribution in global digital infra on the platform of G-7 as many digital experiments of India are being adopted by the world. There is no doubt that India has rapidly adopted digital mediums in recent years. Its effect is also being seen. Work has become easier. Fast happened. Loopholes have reduced.

Apart from these issues, PM will also have separate meetings with the heads of state of G-7 member countries, economic progress, cooperation talks with each other.
