A new war is about to start again between Reliance Industries and Tata Group. This war will be to get the kingdom of coffee. For this, Mukesh Ambani has started foreign maneuvers. Reliance has become Mukesh Ambani's partner to open the first shop of British organic coffee chain Pret a Manger in the country. Its first shop will be in Mumbai. According to a joint statement issued by Reliance Brands Limited (RBL) and Pret A Manger, the store to be opened in Mumbai will be 2,567 square feet and its dining will look like a London shop.

Tata Starbucks strong in India

Meanwhile, Tata Group has partnered with American coffee chain Starbucks. The 50:50 joint venture between Tata Consumer Products and Starbucks plans to launch 50 new stores in FY2022, the highest in a year for the company. Tata Starbucks is the most impact player in this space with 275 stores across 30 cities.

What will be on the menu?

In the new shop opening in Mumbai, customers will get a wide range of sandwiches, baguettes, salads, soups as well as organic coffee, tea, shakes and smoothies. Pret Pickle and Posh Cheddar Granary Sandwiches, Avocado and Toms-Stone Baked Baguettes, and Smoked Salmon Protein Box Salad will feature popular options on the menu. It states that all food will be prepared by hand daily in Pret's onsite kitchen and will never be put out for the next day. Darshan Mehta, Managing Director, Reliance Brands said that they are thrilled to open the first Pret a Manger shop in India.

Focus on local priorities

Pano Christou, CEO of Pret A Manger, said that they are working closely with the RBL team to create an offering for Indian consumers that reflects the Pret brand. Apart from this, we are also looking at local priorities. He said that he was waiting for a long time to enter India. The opening of our first store in Mumbai is a landmark moment in our international expansion plans.
