Chhath puja

Makar Sankranti

In Bihar it is also called Teela Sankranti. This is the festival of welcoming the new crop. Sankranti fair is held in Rajgir in the month of January. A fair is also organized on this occasion in Mandar Hills of Banka. Villagers are seen dancing and singing very enthusiastically in these fairs. Seeing enthusiasm in women and children, it is made. This is considered an auspicious festival in Bihar.

Sonpur Cattle Fair

This animal fair, which is held in the month of November, is the largest animal fair in Asia. Elephants, horses and even camels are found here. It also has mythological and historical importance. It is said that it started with the rule of Chandragupta Maurya, which expanded over time. Taking a dip in the river Ganges and visiting the Hariharnath temple is also an attraction of this fair.
