This plan of Modi government will provide employment to 20 lakh people, will cost more than four thousand crores

The cabinet of the Modi government has approved the PM Mitra scheme in October 2021. This scheme is for the textile sector. Its full name is Pradhan Mantri Mega Textile Integrated Textile and Apparel Scheme.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday that mega textile parks will be set up at a cost of Rs 4,445 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Mitra Yojana. He said that 20 lakh people will get direct and indirect employment from these mega parks. These textile parks will be set up in Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

The plan was approved in 2021

The Union Minister said in a press conference that for setting up state-of-the-art infrastructure of these mega textile parks, domestic and foreign investment is estimated to be around Rs 70,000 crore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced on Friday that Pradhan Mantri Mitra Mega Textile Park would be set up in seven states.

After the cabinet meeting, Union Commerce and Industry and Textile Minister Piyush Goyal said that there is a lot of enthusiasm in the textile sector.

Focus will be on production and export

Piyush Goyal had said that this step is inspired by the 5F vision of PM Modi. This 5F vision includes Farm to Fiber to Factory to Fashion to Foreign. According to the government, world class infrastructure will be developed in it. With this, this scheme will create 21 lakh jobs in the textile sector. These include 7 lakh direct and 14 lakh indirect schemes. This scheme will lead to production and export-oriented growth. The government told that under the PM Mitra scheme, work from spinning, weaving, processing, dyeing and printing to manufacturing of clothes will be done at one place.

The government said that Mitra Parks would be built at greenfield or brownfield sites located in different states. Rs 500 crore support will be given to develop all Greenfield Mitra Parks.
