March 22, 2023 means Chaitra Navratri has started from today. The great festival of worship and meditation of Goddess Durga will continue till 30 March. This year Maa Durga will sit in every house from Pratipada of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month till Navami while riding a boat. The nine-day Chaitra Navratri will begin with the establishment of the Kalash on the first day of Navratri. Nine different forms of Goddess Durga are duly worshiped on Navratri. Meaning – Shailputri is the first form of Goddess in the nine forms of Maa Durga. The second is of Brahmacharini, the third of Chandraghanta, the fourth of Kushmanda, the fifth of Skandamata, the sixth of Katyayani, the seventh of Kalaratri, the eighth of Mahagauri and the ninth of Goddess Siddhidatri.

The first form of Goddess - Maa Shailputri

Shail means mountain. Himalaya is also called Shail. According to the Puranas, Maa Durga was born in the form of Parvati in the Himalayan kingdom, that is why the goddess is called Shailputri.

Message of the form of Maa Shailputri- According to Puranas, from the first form of Maa, we learn that if we want to be successful in any work, then we should move towards the goal while being strong like a mountain.

Bhog- On the first day of Navratri, sweets made of cow's milk and ghee should be offered to Goddess Shailputri, the first form of Goddess Durga.

Second form of Goddess - Maa Brahmacharini

The name of the second form of Maa Durga is Brahmacharini. In this form of mother, she walks on the path shown by Brahmaji. The goddess had done great penance by following celibacy for many years, due to which her second form was called Brahmacharini.

Message of the form of Maa Brahmacharini- We learn to live in rules and discipline from this form of Maa. To be successful in any work, it is very important to have discipline.

Bhog- Offering sugarcane juice to the second form of Maa Durga is fruitful.

The third form of Goddess - Maa Chandraghanta

The third form of Maa Durga is called Chandraghanta. In this form of the mother, an hour-shaped moon is adorned on her head and she is holding a weapon in her hand.

Message of the form of Maa Chandraghanta- In this form of mother, we learn that we should be satisfied. Happiness and peace remain in life due to satisfaction.

Bhog- Offering milk and sweets to Maa Chandraghanta is considered auspicious and fruitful.

Fourth form of Goddess - Maa Kushmanda

Maa Kushmanda is the name of the fourth form of Goddess Durga. According to the scriptures, when there was darkness in the entire universe, then the Goddess created the universe by coming in the form of an egg. For this reason she is called Kushmanda.

Message- One should never be afraid of darkness in the form of mother Kushmanda, but should keep trying to achieve success. This will definitely bring success one day or the other.

Bhog- Offer Malpua to Maa Kushmanda. This makes the mother happy quickly.

Fifth form of Goddess - Maa Skandamata

The fifth form of Maa Durga is in the form of Skandamata. Kartikeya, the son of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati, is called Skanda. For this reason, the name of this form of her is Skandamata. Lord Kartikeya killed Tarakasura. Message- In this form of mother, it is very important for us to have courage to face any situation. Due to the power of courage, our victory becomes sure.

Bhog- It is auspicious to offer banana to Goddess Skandamata.

Sixth form of Goddess - Katyayani

Sage Katyayan had done severe penance to please Maa Durga and to be born as a daughter in her place. Then the goddess was pleased with the penance of sage Katyayan and gave him a boon that she would be born as a daughter at his place. In such a situation, due to being the daughter of sage Katyayan, she was named Katyayani.

Message- From the form of Goddess Katyayani, we get lessons related to health. We should always enjoy life to the fullest by paying special attention to our health.

Bhog- Mother Katyayani should be offered honey. This pleases the Mother Goddess very quickly.

Mother's seventh form - Kalaratri

The seventh form of Maa is called Kalaratri. In this form of Goddess, there are darshan like Kaal. He was born in the night, that's why he is called Kalaratri. In this form of mother, a demon named Raktabeej was killed.

Message- The message of fearlessness is always received in this form of the mother. One gets the message of working continuously in the Isar form of the Goddess. Bhog- Offer jaggery to this form of mother. All wishes are fulfilled as soon as possible.

Eighth form of mother - Mahagauri

According to the scriptures, the Mother Goddess had done severe penance to get rid of her dark form. Due to whose effect Mahagauri got the form. Mother's form is worshiped on the eighth day of Navratri.

Message- Everyone gets this message from this form of mother that one should always keep trying to overcome their weaknesses.

Bhog- Coconut is very dear to this Mahagauri form of Maa.

Mother's ninth form - Siddhidatri

On the last day of Navratri i.e. on the ninth day, the Siddhidatri form of Maa is worshipped. It is believed that in this form the Goddess bestows all kinds of achievements to her devotees.

Message- This form of mother teaches us that we should never back down from hard work. Because if you work hard, you definitely get success.

Bhog-Halwa Puri is offered to Goddess Siddhidatri on the last day of Navratri.
