After this he adorned himself with the ashes of the demon and then settled there. Since then this place has been named Mahakaleshwar. Bhasma Aarti started.

Lord Shiva is decorated with the pyre burning in the crematorium as ashes in the Aarti. However, apart from this, cow dung, peepal, palash, shami and ber wood are also burnt together. Ektitra Bhasma is also used in Aarti. It is believed that the person whose funeral pyre is decorated with Mahadev attains salvation.
