Theunis de Bruyn: South African batsman Theunis de Bruyn has said goodbye to international cricket. Announcing his retirement, the 30-year-old batsman said that now is the time to focus on 'The Next Chapter'. Theunis de Bruyn made his debut in international cricket in 2017 in a T20 match played against Sri Lanka. Bruin has played only 13 Test matches and only 2 T20 matches for South Africa.

"I have had the privilege of representing my country at the highest level of cricket and it is one of the proudest moments of my career," De Bruyne wrote in a statement issued by his home team the Titans. "I've lived the childhood dream, shared a dressing room with my Diamonds and played cricket at some of the most iconic venues in the world; and I can't say thank you enough for the opportunities I've had through this sport." He further added “Given everything I have achieved, the time has come for me to bid adieu to international cricket and focus on my next chapter. I am very excited for my future and pursue my further dreams and ambitions in life I am also looking forward to getting it.
Theunis de Bruyn's career
Theunis de Bruyn played a total of 13 Test matches in his Test career, in which he scored 468 runs at an average of 19.50 in 25 innings. He did not score a single half-century in his career, but he scored the only century in the Test match played against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2018. His best score in Test career is 101 runs.
He played his last match for South Africa in the Boxing Day Test match against Australia in Melbourne last year. Bruin played innings of 12 and 28 runs in that match and his team had to face a bad defeat. In the first season of the South African T20 League, Theunis De Bruyne was part of the Proteria Capitals team, which reached the finals. He scored a total of 238 runs in this tournament.
