Palghar: A lawyer representing jailed TV actor Sheezan Khan on Monday opposed the charge of abetment to suicide against his client in a local court in connection with the death of actress Tunisha Sharma . Did and requested to release Sheejan on bail.
Advocate Sharad Rai, appearing for Sheejan Khan, presented the arguments before Additional Sessions Judge SM Deshpande at Vasai in Maharashtra's Palghar district during the hearing of his bail plea.
Next hearing will be on March 2
Sheejan, who was arrested in December, is yet to get any relief from the court. The next hearing in this matter will be on March 2. The lawyer told the court that the police had booked Khan under section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code, which was not applicable in this case. There is a provision of imprisonment of up to ten years if found guilty under this section. He also said that since the investigation in the case has been completed and the charge sheet has been filed, the accused should be released on bail.
Advocate Sanjay More is the Special Public Prosecutor in the case while Advocate Tarun Sharma is representing Tunisha Sharma's family. On the request of More and Tarun Sharma, the judge fixed the matter for further hearing on March 2 when they would present their arguments. Meera Bhayander Vasai Virar police filed a 500-page charge sheet against Sheejan Khan on 16 February. It is alleged that Sheejan and Tunisha Sharma had a love affair but Khan broke up with the actress.
Tunisha hanged herself on the sets
Tunisha Sharma allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself on the set of a television serial near Valiv in the district on 24 December 2022. Sheejan was arrested the next day on the complaint of the actress's mother. Sheejan is currently in judicial custody.
