Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh said that North India's first nuclear power plant will be set up in Haryana at Gorakhpur village in Fatehabad district, 150 km north of the national capital. He said that a large number of approvals have been given by the Modi government for the establishment of 10 nuclear reactors.

There will be two units of 700 MW capacity
The Minister said that the Department of Atomic Energy has also been permitted to form joint ventures with Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for resources to open nuclear power plants, which is an upcoming and promising sector and has the potential to meet India's energy needs. ability to complete. He said that the Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Project (GHAVP), which will have two units of 700 MW capacity, each with indigenously designed Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR), is under implementation near Gorakhpur village in Fatehabad district of Haryana.

Rs 20,594 crore allocated for nuclear energy
According to the department's statement, out of the total allocated amount of Rs 20,594 crore for nuclear energy, Rs 4,906 crore has been spent so far. According to the department's statement, purchase orders are already in place for key long manufacturing cycle equipment/ components such as primary coolant pumps, calandria, reactor headers, fueling machine heads, moderators and other heat exchangers etc. The end shield and all steam generators for the first unit have been received on site, the statement added. The construction of other equipment is at various stages and the delivery to the site is expected in time to meet the construction schedule.
