The colour red
Red colored coaches will be seen mostly in Shatabdi and Rajdhani Express trains. Being made of aluminium, these coaches are much lighter than other coaches, due to which their speed also increases. These coaches, brought from Germany in the year 2000, can run at a speed of 160 to 200 km per hour. They are also equipped with disc brakes, due to which they can be stopped quickly in case of emergency.

Most of the coaches in Indian Railways are of blue colour . These coaches are fitted in express and passenger trains. Such coaches are made of iron and airbrakes are used to stop them. The factory to make them is in Chennai. Due to heavy weight, these coaches can be run only at a speed of 70 to 140 km per hour.
