China's population decreased, India will become the country with the largest population, leaving behind the dragon!

The high cost of raising children in Chinese cities is often cited as one of the reasons. This is seen only in most parts of East Asia, where the birth rate has declined rapidly.

For the first time since 1961, the population of China has registered a decrease, while India has reached the verge of becoming the most populous country. According to China's statistics office, the country's demographic crisis will deepen in 2022, as its population is set to shrink for the first time since 1961 due to a falling birth rate. Meanwhile, a forecast has said that India will become the most populous country in the world by leaving China .

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the country will have 8,50,000 less population at the end of 2022 than the previous year. The announcement made by the NBS on Tuesday comes at a time when China's economic growth has come down to its second lowest level in five decades and in the year 2022, China recorded a modest growth of three percent.

World Population Prospects 2022 Report

The bureau counts the population of mainland China only, excluding Hong Kong, Macao and the self-governing Taiwan, as well as foreign residents. The recent World Population Prospects 2022 report by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (Population Division) has projected that India will overtake China as the most populous country in the world in 2023.

India's population is estimated to be 1.6 billion

According to the report, India's population is estimated to be 1.668 billion in the year 2050, which is more than China's estimated population of 1.317 billion by the middle of this century. The bureau said on Tuesday that the country's population has been reduced to 1.411.75 billion with the birth of 95.6 million people against the death of 1.041 million people. Of these, 72.206 crore are men and 68.969 crore are women.

one family one child policy

In the year 2016, one family one child policy was abolished in China. Along with this, there is a trend in the country to give preference to male children to carry forward the family name. After ending this policy, China encouraged families to have more than one child, although it did not get much success.

most populous country in the world

The high cost of raising children in Chinese cities is often cited as one of the reasons. This is seen only in most parts of East Asia, where the birth rate has declined rapidly. China has long been the world's most populous country, but India is likely to overtake it soon. The estimated population of India is now 1.4 billion and it is increasing continuously.

millions of people died in the famine

It is believed that the last recorded population decline in China was during the Great Leap Forward in the late 1950s. Mao Zedong's disastrous campaign for collective farming and industrialization is believed to have resulted in a famine that killed millions.

According to the bureau, there are a total of 87.556 million people of working age in China aged 16 to 59, which is 62.0 percent of the country's total population. At the same time, the total number of people aged 65 years and above is 20.978 crore, which is 14.9 percent of the total population. In the year 2022, the permanent urban population increased from 64.6 crores to 92.071 crores, which is 65.22 percent of the total population, while the rural population declined by 73.1 lakhs.

world population eight billion

There was no direct comment on the possible impact of the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic on population figures. The first case of infection came to light in Wuhan city of China. The United Nations last year estimated that the world's population had reached eight billion on November 15 and India would soon replace China as the most populous country in 2023.

One percent drop in population growth

In a report released on World Population Day, the United Nations said that for the first time since 1950, global population growth declined by one percent in 2020. At the same time, the world's second largest economy (China) grew by three percent in 2022, which was the same as last year. That's less than half of K's 8.1 percent.
