Air pollution remains in the severe category in many areas of NCR including the country's capital Delhi . People are facing many types of health problems due to pollution. But do you know that pollution is also affecting fertility . Doctors say that such an environment is also affecting people's sexual interest and activities. According to experts, the bad effects of air pollution can reduce the desire to have sex by up to 30 percent. Due to pollution, the sperm count in men is continuously decreasing.

Experts say that if precautions are not taken now, the situation will worsen in the coming years. This will greatly increase the problem of infertility in men.

Dr. Gunjan Gupta Govil, Founder and IVF Expert, Gunjan IVF World Group, says that there are many heavy elements in the air, which directly affect the hormones of the body. In India 15 percent of the male population is a victim of infertility. This rate is higher than that of women. Particulate matter 2.5 (pm2.5) carries with it polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. It contains lead, cadmium and mercury, which affect the balance of hormones and are harmful to the sperm of men. In many cases, pollution causes the testosterone or estrogen level to decrease, which leads to a decrease in people's desire to have sex. There is a decrease in sperm count due to pollution.

Many chemicals are harming health

Dr. Gunjan explains that due to breathing in pollution, free radicals get collected in large quantity in the blood. It can reduce the quality of sperm even in a healthy male. Chemicals like chlorine and DDT present in polluted air are spoiling our health, these chemicals reach our body and get mixed in important hormones like estrogen and testosterone.

Estrogen is a very important hormone for women. It is produced in the ovaries and then mixes with the blood and affects the reproductive organs of the body. It is so effective that due to its deficiency, many physical and emotional changes occur in women. Due to its deficiency, there is also a decrease in making physical relations.
