Pollution is also affecting sexual health, the problem of impotence is increasing in men

Research published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine has shown that inhaling toxic particles can cause inflammation of the blood vessels and also affect the genitals.

The AQI is more than 300 in many areas of NCR including the country's capital Delhi . The capital is covered in a thick layer of haze. The biggest effect of pollution is on our lungs. But now a research has found that pollution not only affects our physical and mental health but also our sexual health . Studies conducted over the years have indicated Pollution can cause infertility.

To understand the root cause of sexual health issues, we spoke to experts and tried to find out.

Dr Gunjan Gupta Govil, Chairman, Gunjan IVF World Group, says that Delhi's poor air quality is a matter of serious concern, as pollution can affect people's sexual interest and activities as well. According to experts, the adverse effects of air pollution can reduce sexual activity by 30 percent. Not only air pollution, but also noise pollution and other environmental changes can affect a man's sex life, resulting in erectile dysfunction in men, decreased libido, fertility and effects on the fetus.

Hormonal disturbances occur

A study in 2019 showed increasing cases of erectile dysfunction (impotence) associated with exposure to toxic fumes. Research published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine has shown that inhaling toxic particles can cause inflammation of blood vessels and genitals, affecting men's ability to sexually arouse. In such a situation, they have to deal with erectile dysfunction. Dr Gunjan said that the particulate matter contains polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, lead cadmium and mercury which can affect hormonal balance and reduce sperm count in men.

Decrease in sexual desire of women

IVF expert Dr Sunita Agarwal says that nitrous oxide emitted from vehicles is also known to affect arousal in women. This reduces their sex desire. Such problems are seen in areas where pollution is very high.

What is the solution

Doctors say that to prevent pollution, wear filtered masks, and pooling of vehicles should be done so that air pollution can be reduced. Eat better food to increase your immunity level. Don't go out early in the morning and don't breathe in the smog.
