ESIC Maternity Benefit : Now women will also be able to claim maternity benefits online. Because now the process of claiming Maternity Benefit for women has been made online, so that now women employees can claim Maternity Benefit from anywhere in the country at their convenience to take maternity benefits.

Now it will be easier for ESIC subscribers to claim Maternity Benefit as the corporation has started an online portal for this. Union Labor Minister Bhupendra Yadav launched ESIC's online maternity benefit claim facility on the occasion of Dattopant Thengadi's 102nd birth anniversary at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

On this occasion, the Labor Minister said that the initiative of ESIC to use technology to make life easier for insured women is commendable. He said that this portal will make the benefits easily available to the beneficiaries. Let us tell you that earlier, to claim maternity benefit, the beneficiaries had to go to the concerned branch office, but now with the introduction of this new facility, anyone can avail the benefits at their convenience.

Maternity Benefit under ESI Scheme

The woman insured by ESIC is paid 100% of the average daily wage for 26 weeks as maternity benefit to compensate for the loss of income during her delivery. A total of 18.69 lakh women beneficiaries have been provided maternity benefit of Rs 37.37 crore during the year 2021-22.

These benefits are available under Employees' State Insurance (ESI)

Medical Benefit: Under this, medical benefits are given to the insured person and his dependent family members in ESI.

Sickness Benefit: Under this, 70 percent of the average daily wage is paid in cash to the ESIC insured person for sick leave for 91 days.

Maternity Benefit: ESIC pays 100% of the average daily wage in cash during maternity leave for 26 weeks to maternity, up to 6 weeks in case of miscarriage, up to 12 weeks to commissioning mother or adoptive mother.

Disability Benefit: ESIC pays a continuous monthly pension for the life of an insured person till the injury is cured in case of temporary disablement and in case of permanent disablement.

Dependent Benefit: If an insured person dies while in employment, ESIC pays monthly pension in fixed proportion to his dependents.

Unemployment Allowance: If an insured person becomes permanently disabled due to involuntary loss or injury other than employment, he is given a cash monthly allowance for a period of 24 months.

Old Age Medical Benefit: Insured persons who have retired after completing their service are given medical benefits in ESI hospitals and dispensaries.

Vocational Training: ESIC pays the actual charges incurred or Rs.123 per day to the insured in case of disablement caused due to employment injury.

Physical Rehabilitation: In case of physical disablement due to employment injury, the Insured Person is paid the rate of temporary disablement benefit till he is admitted in an artificial limb centre.

Maternity Expenses: In cases where the pregnant woman does not get medical benefits in ESI hospitals, she gets cash payment @ Rs.7500/- for treatment in outstation hospitals. This benefit is available twice.

Funeral Expenses: In the event of the death of the Life Assured on behalf of ESIC, the basic funeral expenses or a maximum of Rs 15 thousand are paid in cash.
