Vegetarian food beneficial in reducing calories

The expert said that a vegetarian diet can be a good option for those who want to reduce calorie intake and reduce the risk of heart diseases. However, vegetarian diet is not advisable for pregnant women. This is because protein is very important for the better and healthy growth of the baby during pregnancy.

Animal proteins such as eggs, chicken, fish, milk and other dairy products are good sources of protein. If a woman is a vegetarian, she will need a supplement for these proteins. According to Dr. Tanwar, 'It is always better to eat such food, so that the body gets vitamins and nutrients naturally. Do not have to take medicines for them.

Is it okay to eat vegetarian food during pregnancy?

Dr. Shobha Gupta, Gynecologist and Infertility Expert at Mother's Lap IVF Center in Pitampura, Delhi said that for most Indians being vegetarian means consuming vegetarian food and dairy products. "They ignore only one thing, they are meat related products," he said.

Dr. Gupta stressed, 'But most important thing is that pregnant women discuss in detail with their doctor and nutritionist and take the food prescribed by them for proper development of the child.'

Dr. Shobha Gupta also agreed on Dr. Tanwar's points. He said that dairy products are very important for bone health. Bioavailability is high in these things. But there are also alternatives like soy milk for these. Dr. Tanwar said, 'Pregnant women can eat tangerines, oatmeal, millet, almonds and pulses.'
