On 26 January 1950, Dr Rajendra Prasad became the first President of the country. He again achieved this position in 1957. After this there were two such Presidents who could not complete their term due to some reasons. Dr Zakir Hussain became the first such President in this list. He took the oath of office on May 13, 1967 and died on May 3, 1969. After this, on 24 August 1969, VV Giri became the new President, but Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, who held this post after him, could not complete his term as President.

Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, who was sworn in as the President on 24 August 1974, became the second President who could not complete his term. After this, Neelam Sanjiva Reddy, who was the sixth President of the country, took oath on July 25, 1977. He completed his term. Since then, all the Presidents of the country have completed their term. Therefore, the date has also been kept as July 25. So far in history 9 Presidents have taken oath on this date. Now President Elect Draupadi Murmu will be the 10th President who will take oath on this date.

Who selects the President of India?

The President is elected by an electoral college consisting of elected members of both the Houses of Parliament and the Legislative Assemblies of the States, as well as the elected members of the National Capital, Delhi Territory and the Union Territory of Puducherry.
