What is NIRF?
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) works to rank the country's top universities, colleges and other educational institutions on the basis of performance. In this, educational quality is measured in universities, colleges and other educational institutions across the country. The ranking of NIRF was started in 2015. The ranking framework evaluates institutions on 5 broad generic groups of parameters. These include Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcome (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) and Perception (PR). Ranks are given on the basis of the sum total of the marks awarded for each of these five broad groups of parameters.
