Know why Kalava is tied on the wrist, what are its rules, religious and scientific significance!

No worship in Hinduism is ever completed without Kalave.
Kalava is considered to be a defense formula. It is believed that God himself resides in the cotton thread of Kalave. By tying it, the person is protected from all the calamities. Apart from this, positivity comes inside the person and all his works start getting done. But special chanting is done while tying the Kalave, which is very important to pronounce correctly. Only then it becomes effective. Apart from this, there are some special rules of Kalave, which many people do not know about. Know here about its rules, importance and special mantra.

It has been told in the scriptures that Mata Lakshmi started tying Kalava. When Lord Vishnu had measured the earth three steps in the Baman avatar, being pleased with the generosity of King Bali, he gave it to live in Hades. Then King Bali prayed to Lord Vishnu that he too should come and stay with him in Hades. Vishnu ji was pleased and accepted his prayer. After this, Mata Lakshmi reached Hades in disguise to bring Lord Vishnu back from there and started crying in front of Bali that I have no brother. After this Bali said that from today I am your brother. On this, Mata Lakshmi then tied Kalava to King Bali as a defense thread and made him her brother. After this, as a gift, Lord Vishnu was asked from him. Since then this art has been tied as a defense thread.

Kalava is wrapped thrice

As per the rule, Kalava is wrapped around the wrist only three times. By wrapping it three times, one gets the blessings of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh, the Tridev. Along with the blessings of Tridev, the three goddesses Saraswati, Lakshmi and Parvati also get the blessings.

chant this mantra

You must have seen that any pandit definitely utters a mantra while tying the Kalava. That mantra is - 'Yen Badho Bali Raja, Danavendra Mahabalah, Ten Twan Manubadhnaami, Rakshanmachal Machal' . It is believed that by tying Kalava with this mantra, it becomes effective. Kalave should be tied on the wrist of the right hand of men and unmarried girls and on the wrist of the left hand of married women. Also, while tying Kalava, the fist should be closed and the other hand should be on the head. Women can cover their head with a dupatta etc.

How many days to change Kalawa

It has been told in the scriptures that Kalava should be taken off on every new moon and a new one should be tied the next day. Apart from this, Kalava should be changed after the eclipse period because after Sutak Kalava becomes impure and loses its power. After taking off the Kalava, it should be flown in water or keep it under a peepal. Never throw it in any dirty place.

Scientific reason for tying Kalava

You know the religious reason for tying Kalava, but the scientific reason should also be understood. The nerves reaching most of the body parts pass through the wrist. In such a situation, the action of nerves remains controlled by tying Kalava on the wrist. There is a balance of tridoshas i.e. Vata, Pitta and Kapha in the body, which prevents from all diseases.
