Heart attack death cases have increased in India in the last few years, know what is the biggest risk factor

Experts say that some misconceptions related to heart attack are also responsible for death.
Some people believe that only patients with high cholesterol or blood pressure can suffer from heart attack.

After Indra Kumar, Amit Mistry, Raj Kaushal, now the name of Siddharth Shukla has been added to the list of celebrities who died of heart attack. No one had imagined that the fit and healthy 40-year-old Shukla would become a victim of the silent killer. Shukla was at the height of his career, which everyone wants, but suddenly he said goodbye to the world. However, all these young deaths raise an important question why and how?

Increase in death due to heart attack

At a time when people are more conscious about their health, the cases of heart attack are increasing. To be precise, no matter how fit we may look from outside, we need to stay inside too. A look at the death toll due to heart attack in India reveals a shocking revelation. The death toll due to heart attack has increased in India from 2016 to 2019. In 2016, 21,914 people lost their lives due to heart attack. The death toll stood at 23,249 in 2017, 25,764 in 2018 and 28,005 in 2019 due to heart attack.

Dr Subhdhun Mohanty, Cardiologist at Sharda Hospital Noida, says, “The reality is that we have become conscious about our health during the pandemic, but it is also a reality that people are not doing much for him. There are also some misconceptions associated with it. Some people believe that only high cholesterol or blood pressure patients can suffer from heart attack. Hence, they focus more on it and get their blood tests done every six months.

Some misconceptions related to heart attack are also responsible

These are unscientific methods being promoted by all agencies. According to science, by the age of 30 you don't need to go for routine checkups." People have to understand what the major risk factors are. Today these are smoking and stress. He explained in detail "Nobody measures stress and makes very little effort of it. Second important thing is smoking has become common. This is the most dangerous risk factor. If possible, the level of stress will increase the next day.

A common misconception associated with smoking can be understood as people reducing the count rather than quitting, although this is not helpful. "If you love your heart, it becomes important to quit smoking," says Mohanty. A lot of people compare themselves to others when they are short on cigarettes. This is wrong. Apart from that, today our focus is completely on muscle building. We want to appear smart, but our inner health gets affected because of that. According to Mohanty, the truth is that it is not just about building muscle, but you have to be healthy from inside and stress can never allow this to happen.
