  1. According to Vastu Shastra, planting Tulsi plants in north and east direction gives auspicious fruit. Its plants should not be planted near the kitchen at all. Doing this increases the negative energy.
  2. Tulsi is very dear to Lord Vishnu. But it should not be used to offer offerings to Lord Shiva and his son Ganesha. It is believed that its leaves should not be touched or broken without bathing.
  3. If the basil dries up for any reason, it should be poured into the holy river or buried in the ground instead of being thrown away.
  4. It is not good to break the basil leaves on Sunday. This day is considered to be the favorite day of Lord Vishnu. So breaking the basil leaf brings bad luck in the house.
  5. Basil leaves should not be broken during Ekadashi, Sankranti, solar eclipse, lunar eclipse and evening. It is said that basil leaves should never be broken with nails. Doing so leads to crime. You can use fingers instead of nails.
