Now you can get your driving license done by giving just one online test sitting at home, know what is the whole process

If you are also thinking of getting a driving license and you are facing problem in going to RTO and getting in line, then we have brought a good news for you.
India is going to see drastic changes in the issuance of driving licenses from July 1. As per the new rules announced by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), an applicant will now be able to obtain a driving license without taking the physical test of the RTO. However, he/she will have to undergo training in any recognized Driving Training Center.

Instead of a physical test at an RTO, the applicant has to appear and pass an online test. The online test will be electronically recorded for audit. MoRTH said on Twitter that shortage of skilled drivers is one of the major issues in the Indian roadways sector and a large number of road accidents occur due to lack of knowledge of road rules.

Online test will have many benefits

The online test of applicants is expected to reduce the loopholes in the process of issuing driving license. Driving Training Centers need to be equipped with simulators and a dedicated driving test track to train the candidates. The online test is claimed to be more efficient than the physical driving test. Also, digitization of the process is expected to make it more transparent and efficient.

The entire process will be technology driven and there will be no human intervention. This is to ensure that there is no malpractice in the driving test and issuance of driving licence. Once the Driving Training Center issues a certificate, it will directly reach the concerned Motor Vehicle License Officer.

Some state governments like Delhi and Maharashtra have already implemented testing online or home methods to obtain learner's license. Under Online, the Delhi Transport Department was able to clear 64% of the 77,421 online applications between February 18 and March 30.
