Do you know why Kedarnath temple was built by Pandavas? Know the story behind it

In Hindu religion, Kedarnath Dham, situated in the lap of the Himalayas, is considered one of the twelve Jyotirlingas.
In Hindu Puranas, this holy shrine, which is covered with snow for about six months of the year, is said to be the abode of Lord Shiva. It is believed that here Lord Shiva resides at all times as a triangle Shivling.

Although many stories related to this Dham are found in the mythological texts, but today we are going to tell you about a story related to this Dham in Mahabharata, in which it is told that Lord Shiva was seen by Lord Shiva here . After which the Pandavas established this Dham here.

Let's know about this interesting story related to Kedarnath.

According to the legend mentioned in religious texts, Yudhishthira, the eldest of the Pandavas after his victory in the Mahabharata war, was crowned as the King of Hastinapur. After that, Yudhishthira ruled Hastinapur for almost four decades. Meanwhile, one day the five Pandavas were sitting with Lord Krishna and reviewing the Mahabharata war. In the review, the Pandavas said to Shri Krishna, O Narayana, we have a stigma on all our brothers killing Brahmand Bandhavs with the killing of Brahma.

How to remove this stigma? Then Shri Krishna told the Pandavas that it is true that even though you have won in the war, you have become a partaker of sin due to killing your Guru and brothers Bandhavs. Salvation is impossible because of these sins. But only Mahadev can get rid of these sins. So go to Mahadev's shelter. After that Shri Krishna returned to Dwarka.

After that, the Pandavas started worrying for freedom from sins and kept thinking in mind when they should leave the Raj text and go to the shelter of Shiva.

Meanwhile, one day the Pandavas came to know that Vasudev has given up his body and he has returned to his supreme abode. Hearing this, even the Pandavas did not find it appropriate to live on earth. The Guru, Pitamah and Sakha were all left behind in the battlefield. Mother, elder, father and Kaka Vidur had also gone into exile. Even Krishna, who was always an assistant, was no more. In such a situation, the Pandavas handed over the kingdom to Parikshit and left Hastinapur with Draupadi and went in search of Shiva.

After leaving Hastinapur, the five brothers and Draupadi first reached Pandavakashi to see Lord Shiva, but they did not meet there. After that, they tried to find Lord Shiva in many other places, but wherever these people went, Shiv ji would go from there. In this sequence, the five Pandavas and Draupadi came to the Himalayas in search of Lord Shiva one day.

Here even when Shivji saw these people, they hid but here Yudhishthira saw Lord Shiva hiding. Then Yudhishthira told Lord Shiva that no matter how much you hide, Lord, but we will not leave from here without seeing you and I also know that you are hiding because we have sinned.

After Yudhishthira said so, the five Pandavas started moving forward. At the same time, a bull pounced on them. Seeing this, Bhima started fighting with him. Meanwhile, the bull hid his head among the rocks, after which Bhima started pulling his tail and then the bull's torso was separated from the head and the bull's torso turned into a lingam and after some time Lord Shiva appeared from the lingam. Shiva forgave the sins of the Pandavas.

Even today, the proof of this incident exists in the Shivling of bull of Kedarnath. Seeing Lord Shiva in front of him, the Pandavas bowed down to him and after that Lord Shiva told the Pandavas the path to heaven and then disappeared. After that the Pandavas worshiped that Shivling and today the same Shivling is known as Kedarnath Dham.

Because Shiva himself had shown the way for the Pandavas to go to heaven here, therefore, in Hinduism, Kedar Sthal is considered as a place of salvation and it is believed that if someone comes out with the resolve of Kedar Darshan and dies, then that creature is born again Does not have to be taken.
