In the budget presented on February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced an additional 1 crore gas connections under the Ujjawala Yojna. "The free cooking gas LPG scheme (Ujjawala) will be expanded and more than one crore beneficiaries will be brought under this ambit," the finance minister said. In Ujjawala Yojana, families who fall in BPL category as per 2011 census can avail the benefits of this scheme.

Under Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana, the government provides home cooking gas (LPG) connection to families living below the poverty line. The Ujjawala scheme aims to provide free LPG connection to a total of 1 crore BPL families.

How to apply?

Only a woman from the BPL family can apply for a gas connection under the Ujjawala scheme. For this you have to fill the KYC form and give it to the nearest LPG center. When applying, you should also state whether you want to take a 14.2 kg cylinder or a 5 kg cylinder. The application form of Ujjawala Yojana can be downloaded from the website of Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana or it can also be obtained through LPG Center.
