This is called wife vrata. In Madhya Pradesh, a poor laborer saw his wife's problem of going half a km away to fetch water from a hand pump and built a well in his house in just fifteen days . The district administration appreciated his feelings towards his wife and decided to provide some government benefits to change her life.
8-year-old Bharat Singh, a resident of Bhanpur Bawa in Chanchoda taluka, was not seen by his wife going half a km away and fetching water from a handpump for the needs of the family.
One day after finding no faulty water in the machine, his wife returned home empty-handed and complained to her husband about the water problem. Then Bharat Singh told his wife that now I will dig a well for you. The wife laughed when she heard this.
But Bharat Singh was firm and he started working. He dug up to 21 feet below the ground. In just fifteen days he dug a six-foot-wide well. Now Bharat Singh gets water not only for home but also for farming and cattle.
