Prime Minister Jan Dhan Yojana ( Pradhan Mantri as on Jan Dhan Yojana) Number of bank account balances under the zero mark has been crossed 41. Account holders get many benefits in the account opened under PMJDY. Even if you do not have a balance in your account, you can withdraw up to 10 thousand rupees. In addition, a debit card (Rupay Debit Card) is provided so that you can withdraw money from the account and also make purchases.

It may be recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Independence Day address in 2014, announced the launch of Jandhan Yojana. The scheme was launched on August 28 of the same year. The total number of Jandhan accounts under this scheme has reached 41.6 crore till January 6, 201. The government launched the second version of the scheme in 2018 with more facilities and benefits.

Free accident insurance of Rs 2 lakh

In the second version of the scheme, the government decided to target each family location for those who were still deprived of banking facilities. In addition, the free accident insurance cover for card holders on Jandhan account opened after 28 August 2018 has been doubled to Rs 2 lakh.

These documents are required to open a Jandhan account

You can also submit a document fulfilling the Know Your Customer (KYC) requirement including Aadhar card, passport, driving license to open a Jandhan account. If you do not have the documents, you can open a small account. In it you have to have a self-attested photograph and your signature in front of the bank officer. You do not have to pay any fees or charges to open a Jandhan account. Anyone 10 years of age or older can open this account.

Facility to withdraw 10 thousand rupees

Jandhan account has many benefits. If you have a Jandhan account, you can withdraw an additional Rs 10,000 from your account by overdraft. You must have an Aadhaar card to avail the overdraft facility. An overdraft facility is a facility where the account holder can withdraw money from the account even when he does not have a single rupee in his account. That is, the account holder's account balance is zero. If a Prime Minister's Jandhan account is not linked to the Aadhaar card, he will not get the benefit of overdraft facility on that account.
