New Delhi: The Indian government has criticized online information website Wikipedia. The Indian government has ordered Wikipedia to remove a link from its platform that shows a false map of Jammu and Kashmir. The order was issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

Twitter apologizes
Indeed, this is not the first time that the Indian government has taken a hard line on showing a false map of India on any social platform. Twitter had earlier apologized in writing to a parliamentary panel on a map showing Ladakh as part of China.
If this rule
does not improve Wikipedia even after giving notice, the possible options may be to take action under Section 69A of the IT Act to restrict access to Wikipedia in India. In addition, the government can register an FIR under the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act. There is a provision of imprisonment for up to six months.
