Parthiv Patel is a great ambassador of Indian cricket: Ganguly

Former captain of the Indian team Sourav Ganguly has said that former wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel always played like a team man and he is a great ambassador of Indian cricket. Patel retired from all forms of cricket on Wednesday. He made his Indian debut under the captaincy of Ganguly.

The current BCCI president Ganguly said, "Parthiv has been a great ambassador of Indian cricket. He always played as a team man and at the age of 17, when he made his international debut, it was good for me to captain him.

Ganguly said, his hard work earned him a name in international and domestic cricket. I congratulate him on his illustrious career and best wishes for the future. The performance he performed in the Ranji Trophy final and gave Gujarat the title for the first time will always be remembered in Gujarat cricket.

Patel, 35, has played 194 first-class matches and scored 11, 240 runs. He has scored 27 centuries and 62 half-centuries. Patel led Gujarat to the Ranji Trophy title for the first time in 2016-17 under his captaincy.

BCCI secretary Jai Shah said, Parthiv has always played cricket with passion. He has played very difficult cricket for the Indian team. His contribution to domestic cricket will inspire future cricketers.

He said, winning the Ranji Trophy for the first time in Gujarat in 2016-17 season is a great achievement, it shows his leadership ability. The BCCI congratulates Parthiv for his successful journey.

BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal said, Parthiv has come a long way from a young player who wanted to make his name in international cricket to a player who paved the way for the youth. I congratulate him for his illustrious career with the Indian team, Gujarat and the IPL franchises. I also wish him all the best for the future.
