A film is also sent from India and this year India's Malayalam film 'Jallikattu' has been sent an official entry in this category. The film has won many awards in India and abroad before going to the Oscars.
The film premiered on September 6, 2019 at the Toronto International Film Festival where it was highly acclaimed. It was then released on October 4, 2019 in the state of Kerala. The film was also screened at the Busan International Film Festival. The film's director Lijo Jose Pallisri won the Best Director award at the International Film Festival of India. Cullen Varkey is a butcher who cuts buffalo. The whole village depends on the meat cut by it. Only then does a ferocious buffalo escape and then the whole village goes to catch it. The film also has many side stories in which the issues of poverty, illiteracy, unemployment in the village are raised. The film stars Anthony Varghese, Chembon Vinod Jose, Santhi Balachandran in the lead roles.
