"There is no greater honour than this"- Gautam Gambhir spoke openly for the first time about becoming the head coach of the Indian team, said a big thing

Gautam Gambhir Team India head coach: Along with the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, discussions are also going on about the new head coach of the Indian men's cricket team and the names of many contenders have come to the fore. However, the strongest contender is considered to be former Indian opener and Kolkata Knight Riders mentor Gautam Gambhir, who recently played an important role in making KKR the champion of IPL 2024. At the same time, now Gambhir has talked for the first time about becoming the head coach of Team India and said that becoming the coach of the Indian cricket team would be an "honor" for him.

India's current head coach Rahul Dravid's tenure is only till the T20 World Cup and it is believed that he is not keen on this post, which is why he has not even applied. At the same time, BCCI had recently invited applications for the post of coach and now the last date to apply has also expired. It is being said in media reports that Gautam Gambhir's appointment as head coach is almost certain and an official announcement regarding this can be made soon.

"I would love to coach the Indian team"

Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir interacted with students during an event held at Medeor Hospital in Abu Dhabi. During this, a student asked the former opener about coaching the Indian team and helping them win the World Cup with his experience. In response, Gambhir smiled and said: "I have not answered this question although many people have asked me. But I have to answer you now. I would love to coach the Indian team. There is no greater honor than becoming the coach of the national team. You are representing 140 crore Indians and people around the world."

Gambhir further said: "It is these 140 crore Indians who will help India win the World Cup. If everyone starts praying for us and we start playing and represent them, India will win the World Cup. The most important thing is to be fearless."
