Rudraprayag: The land of Uttarakhand is considered the land of gods and goddesses. There are many ancient and miraculous temples here which are famous not only in the country but also abroad. Similarly, there are many ponds in these temples in which amazing views can be seen. There are many such ponds at some distance from Kedarnath Dham, one of the four Dhams, knowing the specialty of which you will be stunned because the water of this pond seems to stir in the name of Lord Shiva.

Where is this pond?

Retas Kund is situated on the banks of Saraswati river, about 500 meters away from Kedarnath temple. According to mythology, Lord Kamadeva was killed by the anger of Lord Shiva, his wife Rati was crying continuously in grief. She released a fountain of tears at the same place which formed this Kund. Along with this, another legend is popular that one of the Pandavas- Bhima worshipped Lord Shiva at this place and if any human drinks the holy water of this Kund, he receives the divine blessings of Lord Shiva.

When do bubbles arise?

A magical thing related to the Kund is that whenever a devotee chants the name of Lord Shiva near the Kund or chants Om Namah Shivaya near the Kund, the water of this Kund starts boiling naturally. There is also a mythological belief that when bubbles rise from the water, the wishes of the devotees are also fulfilled. Along with this, it is also said that if a person drinks the holy water of this Kund, he receives the divine blessings of Lord Shiva.

Disappeared in the year 2013

The disaster that came in the year 2013 completely changed the map of Kedarnath Dham. That terrible disaster also made many ponds disappear, one of which was Retas Kund. Even after the disappearance of this pond, the faith and belief of the devotees towards the pond still draws people there and people come here and worship with full devotion.
