Silver ornaments and utensils start turning black after some time and cleaning them seems to be a very difficult task. With the help of some tips, you can easily clean silver items.

Even though people do not eat in silver utensils now, silver utensils are still given as gifts and silver jewellery is found in most homes. Be it jewellery or silver utensils, as they get old, their colour starts turning black. When they are needed on special occasions like festivals, weddings, etc., it becomes difficult to clean them. Silver items can be easily polished with some simple household items.

From anklets to toe rings, people still prefer to wear silver, while silver utensils are also found in many houses. If the silver utensils and jewellery kept in your house have turned black, then know how it can be cleaned easily.

Toothpaste will work

White toothpaste can be used to shine silver utensils or jewellery. Apply toothpaste on jewellery and utensils and clean them with a brush and then dip them in hot water and leave them for some time. After taking them out, clean the remaining dirt with a brush once again and wash them with plain water and wipe them.

Tomato sauce is very useful

Tomato sauce is widely consumed with pakodas, but do you know that it can make your silver utensils and jewellery shine? Apply tomato sauce on silver items and leave it for half an hour and then clean it with a soft brush. Wash it with warm water and wipe it with a cloth and dry it.

Use Vinegar

Vinegar can also be used to clean silver jewellery or utensils. Take vinegar in a bowl and add salt to it and then dip the utensils or jewellery in this mixture. After about 20 to 25 minutes, clean those silver items with hot water.

Clean with lemon and salt

To remove blackness from silver utensils and jewellery, you can clean them by rubbing them with a lemon slice and adding salt to it. Apart from this, take hot water and add the juice of one or two lemons to it. After this, add two spoons of salt and dip the silver items in this water and leave it for some time. Take them out, clean them and wipe them with a cloth and dry them.
