Prabhas's film Kalki 2898 AD is going to be released on 27 June. There is a huge buzz about the film. It is being said to be the most expensive film released in India till date. Its budget is around 600 crores. Apart from Prabhas, big actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan are a part of this film. However, right now we are going to talk about something else.
Except for Prabhas' 'Salaar', his previous films have not done anything special. Some films have proved to be the flickering wick of a lantern. That is to say, a bright flame rose suddenly and then the wick went off. Something similar happened with Prabhas' films. They got a good opening, but these films could not continue it further. 1. Saaho
Questions raised on the success of 'Bahubali' Prabhas made his debut in Hindi films with 'Saaho'. It was said that this film will rock the box office. But this did not happen. The public did not like the film very much and Prabhas' work was also rejected. The film made in a budget of 350 crores somehow managed to earn 400 crores. In India, the film earned only 310 crores. The trust that Prabhas had given to the theatre owners through 'Bahubali' was shaken to a great extent.
2. Radhe Shyam
'Saaho' did not earn a lot of money, but at least it recovered its cost. But Prabhas' next film 'Radhe Shyam' was not even able to recover its cost. The film which earned 43 crores at the domestic box office on the first day, kept falling. The film could not even earn half of its budget. 'Radhe Shyam' earned a total of around 149 crores, while the budget of the film was around 300 crores. This film put a considerable dent on Prabhas' reputation. His shine of being a pan-India star faded a bit.
3. Adipurush
'Adipurush' is like a stain on Prabhas' career. This film was promoted terribly. It was said that the budget of this film is 500 crores. But when the film was released, it had to face backlash. First it was called a cartoon. After this, the dialogues of the film were badly trolled. Prabhas' acting also faced tremendous trolling. The film made in a budget of 500 crores could not even earn 300 crores at the box office.
4. Salar
Prabhas had high hopes from 'Salaar'. It was made by KGF director Prashanth Neel. The budget of this film was around 250 crores. 'Salaar' also earned more than 700 crores worldwide. But Prabhas' 'Baahubali' magic was not seen in the Hindi belt. The Hindi version of the film collected only around 150 crores.
