IPL 2024: "Glenn Maxwell will single-handedly win a match" - Big statement about RCB all-rounder before the playoffs

Glenn Maxwell: Glenn Maxwell's performance in IPL 2024 has not been that good. He had to sit out some matches in the league stage but he returned in the last league match of Royal Challengers Bangalore and played an important role in taking his team to the playoffs. Bengaluru team now has to face Rajasthan Royals in the eliminator match. Former Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram has had a big reaction before the playoff matches and he is hopeful that Maxwell will perform well in the knockout matches.

Akram recalled the innings played by Glenn Maxwell against Afghanistan in the 2023 ODI World Cup. The right-handed all-rounder scored an unbeaten double century in that match and led his team to a tremendous victory.

In the current IPL season, Maxwell has scored only 52 runs in 9 matches at an average of 6.50. At the same time, he has taken 6 wickets in bowling. In the last match, he faced 5 balls and scored 16 runs, while in bowling, he took the big wicket of Chennai Super Kings captain Rituraj Gaikwad by giving 25 runs during a spell of 4 overs.

What did Wasim Akram say about Glenn Maxwell?

On Sportskeeda's 'Match Ki Baat', Wasim Akram said, "High risk, high reward. Glenn Maxwell will single-handedly win knockout matches for RCB. You have to be calm with him in the dressing room. I know it's frustrating. It must be frustrating for him as well. I know how competitive the Australians and especially Maxwell are and how much he wants to succeed. Remember his innings in the World Cup against Afghanistan, had cramps, couldn't walk, played with one hand and scored 200 runs."

Let us tell you that Royal Challengers had finished their league stage journey in fourth place with 14 points. For this reason, now he will have to play an eliminator match, in which he will face Rajasthan Royals. The team that wins this match will have to face the team that lost Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2 and the winner will get a chance to play in the final. In this way, RCB will have to win a total of three matches to win the trophy.
