The famous Shri Bajreshwari Devi Temple of Himachal is also known as Nagar Kot Devi or Kangra Devi Temple. Apart from being one of the nine pilgrimage sites of Durga, it is also included in Shaktipeeth. The devotees can see the golden Kalash of this temple from a distance. Devotees travel from far and wide to visit this temple. Seeing tears coming out from the idol, the priest there starts a special puja to avoid trouble. This idol of Baba Bhairav ​​is said to be about five thousand years old. Till date no one has been able to know what is the secret hidden behind these flowing tears of Bhairav ​​Baba.

According to mythology, Mother Sati, considering herself and her husband Lord Shiva as an insult due to not being invited to the Yagya organized by her father King Daksh Prajapati, sacrificed herself by burning herself in the fire of the same Yagya, after which Lord Shiva died. While he was circling the universe carrying the dead body of his wife Mata Sati, Lord Vishnu divided the body of Mata Sati into 51 parts with his Sudarshan Chakra, wherever her body parts fell on the earth, a Shaktipeeth was formed. It is believed that the place where the left breast of Mata Sati fell is worshiped in the name of Maa Brajeshwari or Kangra Mai.
