Coronavirus in India: Coronavirus cases are increasing every day in India for about two weeks. The number of active patients has crossed 4 thousand. Covid cases are continuously increasing in some states, but the highest number of cases are being reported in Kerala. More than 90 percent of the total active cases in the country are coming from Kerala only. The first case of the new sub-variant Gen.1 was reported in Kerala itself. Since this case came to light, cases are increasing every day. There are 3128 active cases of virus in Kerala. Cases are less in other states, but are increasing every day.
In view of the increasing cases of Corona, experts have advised people to remain alert. It has also been asked to wear masks in crowded areas. Amidst the increasing cases of Covid, the World Health Organization has said that Corona cases are increasing worldwide. Corona cases have increased by more than 50 percent in the last one month. This has been said on the basis of data from about 40 countries.
On the new JN.1 variant of Covid, WHO has said that this variant is spreading rapidly, but is not dangerous. Cases of the new sub-variant of Covid JN.1 (BA.2.86.1.1) are increasing across the world. In India too, 63 cases have been reported so far. It is a matter of relief that till now only mild symptoms are being found in the people infected with this virus.
States are on alert
In view of the increasing cases, all the states are on alert and testing and surveillance of corona infected people has been increased. A Health Ministry official said that cases are increasing in the country, but there is no need to panic. All preparations are in place regarding Covid and even if the cases increase further, there are complete preparations to deal with such a situation. However, looking at the pattern of the last two years, it has been assessed that now the possibility of the situation worsening due to Corona is very less.
When can the peak come?
Professor Dr. Jugal Kishore, HOD in the Community Medicine Department at Safdarjung Hospital, says that the peak comes a month after the corona cases start increasing. Since there is not much increase in cases right now, the peak is expected to come soon. The peak of Corona may come in the country in the second week of January. Once the peak comes, the cases will start decreasing, although it remains to be seen how much the increase in Covid cases occurs after the New Year. If cases increase rapidly then the peak will come by the third week of January.

Dr. Jugal Kishore says that the cases of Covid are less, but many other types of viruses remain active during the winter season, which can be dangerous for people with weak immunity. In such a situation, people are advised to take care of their health. Protect yourself from Corona and also avoid flu. For this, wear a mask in crowded areas and eat food only after washing hands. If any person has cough and cold, then keep distance from him and go to the hospital if symptoms of Covid appear.
